Identifying
and Building Strengths And Nurturing Talents Far All Individuals
With Autism -The 11th Annual ASD Symposium This symposium is the first national forum to address the importance of understanding interests, strengths, and talents of people with ASD relative to social, academic, vocational, and leisure skills and settings. Presentations and discussions will focus on the importance of identifying and enhancing these abilities for people with ASD of all ages and all ability levels in educational, community, home, and vocational settings. The symposium is intended for educators, SLPs, OTs, psychologists, paraprofessionals, social workers, therapists, family members, and other care givers who live with and/or support the development of people with ASD. In conjuction with the Symposium there will be a exhibit of art by people with ASD, curated by Roger Ricco of the Ricco-Maresca Gallery, New York City, with support of the Rhode Island School of Design. A special performance by award-winning jazz pianist Matt Savage, 13-year-old prodigy who has received national recognition for his creative talents. Early Bird rate for Professionals ends on 2/20/06 Bookstore: The Special Needs Project will provide a bookstore featuring information/resources on ASD education and treatment approaches. Peruse their website and email la@specialneeds.com at least one week before the symposium if there are particular products you would like the bookstore to include. Lodging: A block of rooms is being held at the Westin Hotel attached to the Convention Center for $176 single/double, and the Biltmore Hotel, one block from the Convention Center, for $154 jr. suites. Confirmation and Cancellation: A $30 cancellation fee will apply to all registrants who cannot attend. Notice of cancellation must be give 2 weeks prior to the event. No refunds will be granted after that date. The same policy applies from purchase orders. A substitution may be made at any time. Returned checks will be charged $25. You will receive a confirmation in that mail after your registration is processed. You will receive an e-mail confirmation if registration is recieved within a week of the event. Continuing, ASHA, and CEU credits are available for this event. |
