Our Gathering for Grandparents is held every spring and fall. It is a time for Grandparents of children and adults on the Autism Spectrum to meet and network with others who share similar situations and to discuss important issues that only another grandparent would understand. At each Gathering for Grandparents Brunch we start the morning with a wonderful buffet that includes a variety of fresh fruits, pastries, coffee and juice along with other brunch fare. After brunch those attending have the opportunity to learn more about the Autism Spectrum.

Past events have included:

• Viewing a documentary on Autism
• A panel of brothers and sisters sharing their experiences growing up with Autism in the family
• A psychiatrist speaking about psychiatric disorders that occur along with autism and medications
• A workshop on Special Needs Trusts
• A discussion group on how to deal with family issues and dynamics when your adult son or daughter has a child with Special needs
• A workshop on finding resources at the local, state and national level for the child with ASD and their family
• An Occupational Therapist discussing Sensory Integration Disorder
• A workshop on Understanding The Communicative Intent Behind Challenging Behavior
