  • Thursday, March 10 - No More Meltdowns: Handling Challenging Behaviors & Teaching Social Skills for Individuals with ASD & Social Communication Problems

    Jed Baker, Ph.D., is the Director of Social Skills Training Project, a private organization serving individuals with autism and social communication problems. He is the author of Social Skills Training for Children and Adolescents with Aspergers Syndrome and Social Communication Problems; Preparing for Life: The Complete Handbook for the Transition to Adulthood for Those with Autism and Aspergers Syndrome; The Social Skills Picture Book; The Social Skills Picture Book for High School and Beyond; and No More Meltdowns: Positive Strategies for Managing and Preventing Out-of-Control Behavior. His work has also been featured on ABC World News, Nightline, the CBS Early Show, and the Discovery Health Channel.

  • Friday, March 11 - Morning Session: Gray’s Guide to Bullying for Children with ASD: The Real World

    Carol Gray; The Gray Center for Social Learning and Understanding and Consultant to Children and Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other Social Communication Challenges. She is a consultant, speaker, and author serving people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and those who work on their behalf. She is best known for developing Social Stories™ and her groundbreaking work on bullying, loss and learning, and the habits of effective educators. Carol is the recipient of the Barbara Lipinski award for her international contributions to the education and welfare of children with ASD.

    Afternoon Session: Logically Illogical : Information and Insight into Autism

    Ros Blackburn
    is an adult with autism who lives in England. She is an engaging and insightful speaker who gives talks to parents and professionals throughout the UK.

Each day will begins at 8:30AM and end at 3:00PM

This year’s symposium includes lunch and complimentary parking!!

Lodging:

A block of rooms is being held at The Hilton Garden Inn Providence Airport, 1 Thurber St, Warwick, RI 02886 for $99 single/double per night. The hotel is less than 10 minutes away from Rhodes on the Pawtuxet. Call 401-734-9600 by 2/11/09 for that rate.

Cancellations and Confirmations:

A $30 cancellation fee will apply to all absent registrants. A notice of cancellation must be given within two weeks prior to symposium. No refunds will be given after that date. The same policy also applies to purchase orders. A substitution may be made at any time. Returned checks will be charged $25. Confirmations will be mailed along with directions or if registered online you will receive email cofirmation.
